TURQUOISE, TURQUOISE, TURQUOISE…

I love turquoise– it reminds me of Summer, it reminds me of vacations and of course, the ocean.  On these beautiful New York Spring days, I think of all of those things.  I have a fantasy of being commissioned to do an all turquoise room with gold accents….  If I were to design a turquoise dining room…. I would start with all the elements below, from there the accessories and accent possibilities are endless…

Check out this Dauphine Armoire by Shine by S.H.O.  It has an elegant Hollywood Regency feel and the color just makes it so unique and such statement in a room.  It could be used in an entire turquoise room or the one turquoise accent in an all natural or muted room.

I love this Wallpaper from Schumacher– although it is turquoise, it is also muted and elegant at the same time with the flecks of gold.

Now some may say it is too much to also include this dining table by Shine by S.H.O. in this dining room– but I don’t think so— why not have one truly outrageous room in the house as long as it is done in the right way?  Or if not, use this dining table in an all white or natural room as a pop of color?

Perhaps this gold light fixture from Oly would add the perfect hint of gold above the dining room table—-

You could tie it all together with a simple dining chair; however, if you really wanted to go crazy you could upholster a chair in a fabulous fabric.  Wouldn’t upholstered chairs be incredible in this Schumacher Chiang Mai Dragon design in Aquamarine or Mocha?  — Not sure which one would look better??

I know its a little crazy, but I really love the mix of the fabrics and colors!

Here is a totally different take on a turquoise dining room designed by Gary McBournie as seen in House Beautiful.  While very different (not as wild) as my selections above,  I love the classic feel of this Palm Beach room with the pop of turquoise and I especially love the vintage Chinese Chippendale chairs.

Or how about this Christina Murphy designed turquoise lacquered living room for inspiration? I know it is not a dining room– but look at these walls… are these walls not incredible?  I couldn’t resist including this room and the turquoise story could translate to a dining room.   I also adore the ikat pillows on the sofas!

From a different angle look at the turquoise upholstered chairs—- so gorgeous!!

What do you think?  I’d love to know…

Best,

Cindy

The rooms are beautiful, but I like your take on the turqoise room the best. The
table and chandelier are wonderful and love the cabinet.
