A little slice of heaven…. Tracie Martyn Skin Care Salon

I just redeemed my very generous and wonderful Mother-in-law’s annual Mother’s Day gift, so I feel that I must share the wealth— So here is my first non-decorating post and tip– which is to try a Resculpting Facial at the Tracie Martyn Skin Care Salon in Manhattan.  Although one of the things that I do love about the salon is the decor– it is not a typical salon/spa that resembles a factory environment– it is a serene, understated spa and from the moment you enter this lavender and white oasis you feel a sense of calm come over you– it is truly one of my “Happy Places.”  Anyway, back to the the treatments— Tracie Martyn is famous for treating celebrities before their walks down the red carpet, photo shoots and appearances, but her treatments are available to everyone.  They are quite special and quite a treat!!!

One of my favorite things to do before a special occasion is to get a Resculpting Facial at Tracie Martyn.  It is not the typical facial that you may be used to as this facial focuses on anti-aging, not breakouts.  Trust me– it really works!!!  You look younger and fresher immediately!  See why below…

I also swear by the Tracie Martyn Firming Serum and use it every morning and night.

The Salon has many other wonderful treatments as well– the Red Carpet Facial and the Resculpting Body  Treatments are also incredible.

One last tip- since I always have to bring it back to the home– The Shanti Space Lift Mist is the best room spray I have ever found– I spray it in every room in the house and it smells amazing and also brings out a sense of calm (at least for me).

HAVE FUN WITH WALLPAPER!

Here is a fun wallpaper idea for many different rooms in the home— a child’s room– a mud room– a bathroom–a playroom–an office–a basement–a hallway or even an outdoor cabana….  It is a wallpaper by Graham and Brown of all different sized picture frames. You can leave it as is, draw or paint pictures inside the frames, place actual pictures or invitations in the frames, have guests leave notes or pictures— whatever you like…. to make it your own…

Take a look:

TURQUOISE, TURQUOISE, TURQUOISE…

I love turquoise– it reminds me of Summer, it reminds me of vacations and of course, the ocean.  On these beautiful New York Spring days, I think of all of those things.  I have a fantasy of being commissioned to do an all turquoise room with gold accents….  If I were to design a turquoise dining room…. I would start with all the elements below, from there the accessories and accent possibilities are endless…

Check out this Dauphine Armoire by Shine by S.H.O.  It has an elegant Hollywood Regency feel and the color just makes it so unique and such statement in a room.  It could be used in an entire turquoise room or the one turquoise accent in an all natural or muted room.

I love this Wallpaper from Schumacher– although it is turquoise, it is also muted and elegant at the same time with the flecks of gold.

Now some may say it is too much to also include this dining table by Shine by S.H.O. in this dining room– but I don’t think so— why not have one truly outrageous room in the house as long as it is done in the right way?  Or if not, use this dining table in an all white or natural room as a pop of color?

Perhaps this gold light fixture from Oly would add the perfect hint of gold above the dining room table—-

You could tie it all together with a simple dining chair; however, if you really wanted to go crazy you could upholster a chair in a fabulous fabric.  Wouldn’t upholstered chairs be incredible in this Schumacher Chiang Mai Dragon design in Aquamarine or Mocha?  — Not sure which one would look better??

I know its a little crazy, but I really love the mix of the fabrics and colors!

Here is a totally different take on a turquoise dining room designed by Gary McBournie as seen in House Beautiful.  While very different (not as wild) as my selections above,  I love the classic feel of this Palm Beach room with the pop of turquoise and I especially love the vintage Chinese Chippendale chairs.

Or how about this Christina Murphy designed turquoise lacquered living room for inspiration? I know it is not a dining room– but look at these walls… are these walls not incredible?  I couldn’t resist including this room and the turquoise story could translate to a dining room.   I also adore the ikat pillows on the sofas!

From a different angle look at the turquoise upholstered chairs—- so gorgeous!!

What do you think?  I’d love to know…

Best,

Cindy

My latest obsession!

My latest obsession is this F.Schumacher Shockwave cut velvet fabric–  it is so gorgeous and luscious.  I originally saw it on television on a chair in Khloe Kardashian and Lamar Odom’s house and tracked it down— of course it is a Schumacher, they have most of my favorite fabrics.

This is an expensive fabric; however, it could be the only expensive choice in a room filled with inexpensive solid fabrics and paint.  It is a worthwhile addition to create a statement in a room!

PLATINUM

SAND AND SABLE

I recently used the fabric in the Platinum on a large lumbar pillow for a client’s master bedroom (see Portfolio also).  It came out amazing!    We are waiting on the new night tables and carpet, but I just had to show you how it looks so far… The combination of fabrics and patterns is just fabulous!

Khloe and Lamar’s home office below– Absolutely gorgeous!  Jeff Andrews, is the Los Angeles based interior designer responsible for this amazing office.  I love every piece of furniture and detail in this room.
