MY FAVORITE CREATION

When you have kids– it is all about storage and convenience….  The side entrance of my home used to be a very dreary and dark, narrow entrance with no place to put anything.  We recently expanded this entrance into part of our garage to create a useful and bright mud room with storage closets and a separate laundry room.  This side entrance functions as a primary entrance to our home; therefore, I not only wanted it to be functional, but also fabulous.  I have admired this Schumacher Imperial Trellis Wallpaper for some time now and it served as the inspiration for the room– from there I found an outrageous silver porcelain tile —and the rest just all came together…  I absolutely adore this room!

A NEW FAMILY ROOM FOR A FAMILY OF FIVE THAT LOVES TO ENTERTAIN

My clients have a beautiful home that is mostly traditional in style.  When renovating and creating their new downstairs family room, they wanted a more contemporary feel– but it had to blend with the rest of the home.  We decided to go for a modern transitional look that is warm and inviting.  They entertain often, both with children and without, and this room serves both purposes beautifully!  They are thrilled with the end result.

This family spends many days and nights having their friends over to cheer for their favorite sports teams as they watch them play on the television built into a gorgeous bluestone wall.

The family also loves to gather around the keyboard during a party while guests and relatives play and sing. I thought it would be cool to upholster the wall, keyboard itself and bench, to create a unique area. The fabric is a faux snakeskin from Duralee and it came out fabulous!

We designed a custom built in bar as an additional focal point for entertaining.  The sleek lines work perfectly with the transitional look.  It is a perfect gathering spot for  a party!

BEST LITTLE GIRL IN THE WORLD’S ROOM

I have the best little girl in the world.  She is a good time!   Fun, funky, girly, a dancer and an athlete all rolled up into one bundle of energy.  She is definitely not a pastel girl— therefore when designing her room I had to be creative.  I wanted it to last her from four until high school and to also reflect her high energy personality.  The hot pink, black and white theme is carried out with toile, a fabulous silhouette fabric by Diamond and Baratta, a hot pink shag carpet and the West Elm parsons desk in mirror.  The room has a french flair with a modern edge.  Her attached bathroom is a playful extension to the room with her own silhouettes faux painted on the walls and a toile tile moulding.  This is the room that gets the most compliments in our home.

A FEW GREAT ROOMS IN A GORGEOUS HOME IN MELVILLE, NEW YORK

My clients wanted to update  their very light and clean master bedroom.  They wanted a more sleek and sexy bedroom.  The room is not finished yet, but I just had to show you how outrageous it looks so far!  We created a custom upholstered king size bed modeled after Khloe Kardashian and Lamar Odom’s bed we had seen on TV.  We used a charcoal gray mohair fabric from Kravet for the bed and the custom window treatments.  The wallpaper is Schumacher and it beautifully ties everything together!

For their daughter’s room, my client’s wanted to update a “country” little girl’s room to a modern “big girl room.”  We designed a custom upholstered and tufted bed in a pearlized white vinyl from Duralee and added a metallic foil Schumacher wallpaper with other bold patterns and prints.  The room is so much fun for their daughter!

Other pictures from their home:

We designed a custom bar to serve as a serving buffet for the dining room.  We used mercury glass for behind the glass shelves and the cabinet doors are upholstered in a faux skin vinyl in bronze from Kravet.

In the kitchen, we updated a very shabby-chic country eating area with a bold modern fabric and chocolate brown vinyl seat and pillows.  This simple and reasonable update really changed the look of this eating nook!  The pattern fabric is from Lee Jofa and the vinyl is from Duralee.
